Missouri’s attorney general has opened an investigation into ActBlue over allegations that fraudulent donations may have been processed through the Democratic fundraising platform and directed to candidates in the state.

The inquiry follows a referral from the House Administration Committee and is expected to examine whether ActBlue’s activities violated Missouri laws or business regulations.

The investigation comes after months of congressional scrutiny. The House Administration Committee was one of three congressional committees to examine ActBlue, and their work produced two reports raising questions about the platform’s fundraising practices. Several witnesses invoked their Fifth Amendment rights during the congressional inquiry.
