The New Witches of Massachusetts

What these mothers are doing to their own children would fit in perfectly with the eugenics regime as practiced by the Third Reich.

The Salem witch trials were a long time ago, but that doesn’t mean there are no witches in Massachusetts. Now, instead of being the hunted, they’re tracking you down.

Specifically, if you happen to be an infant about to be born to a mother who has changed her mind about having you. For you, dear lady, Governor Maura Healey is here to prevent you from getting saddled with that annoying creature. The bill she just signed into law, surrounded by cheering, clapping women, will now allow abortions at any stage of gestation, up to and including labor, presumably. No reason is required. The only requirement is that the woman’s doctor says it’s okay.

Bishop Barron was moved to post this on X: “The governor of Massachusetts just signed into law a statute that permits abortion up until the moment of birth, as long as mother and doctor give the go-ahead. Please understand what this means. A fully-formed child, moments before exiting the birth canal, can be eviscerated, chopped into pieces, have its head crushed or skin burned off—all under the full protection of Massachusetts law.”

Governor Healey, in case you don’t know, is a radical leftist lesbian who identifies as a “devout Catholic.”

I read the bill. It’s all about “devastating medical diagnoses” of the unborn child and the pain of an incurable medical condition that requires a third trimester abortion. The bill is written as though it is the most loving, compassionate act ever crafted by the state. Governor Healey signed the bill to save lives, not destroy them.

Bishop Barron wrote, “What I found particularly gross was the reaction of the entirely female crowd around the female governor of Massachusetts as she signed this barbaric provision into law.” The truth is that there is virtually no reason for a mother to abort to save her own life. These babies are not going to detonate when they breathe oxygen. There’s literally no medical reason to destroy a full-term infant, even if it’s not going to live long past birth. The mother already brought it to full term; it’s got to come out anyway. Why does it have to come out dead?

There are rare edge cases, but most of the cases the bill seems to be referring to are cases where an infant would die shortly after birth, or be born with severe defects. In all those cases, there is no mother’s life to be saved. The only thing being saved is her unwillingness to raise a defective child.

I understand this, actually. No mother wants a baby with a medical problem. The news of a potential problem with your baby is a nightmare. The abortion is the escape hatch for having to confront the sick child, for having to face the terror of a child who might die. For some, it is the fear of witnessing pain and suffering. For others, however, it reveals an aesthetic disgust and horror common among secular feminists with children deemed imperfect and a need to rid the earth of them—an ancient human impulse that Christianity finally countered.

By giving in to these fears and beliefs, these “liberal,” “no hate” mothers are doing to their own children things that would perfectly suit the Third Reich’s eugenics regime.

Coming out dead, then, doesn’t do anything to help the mother medically other than free her from the psychological yoke of a burden. Considering the type of woman who would wait until after week 30 to terminate a pregnancy, her baseline psychological stability is likely already shaky.

Only around 1-2% of abortions occur after 20 weeks: somewhere between 11,000 and 12,000 babies (we abort a lot of children in the United States). A large number, perhaps the majority of these, and of all abortions, are of healthy babies. (The United States does not track this data, for some reason).

The intense focus on the solely female perspective on pregnancy, childbirth, and abortion has completely erased the perspective of the other patient on the operating table: the baby. Too often, the fetus’s status as a patient to be treated with all lifesaving measures, “do no harm,” switches to “invasive growth to be excised at all costs” solely based on the convenience and mental state of its mother.

All human life then depends on the ever more tenuous thread between a mother and her child—and it is the liberal women of America who are hell-bent on cutting that thread wherever they see it. Feminism is alive and well and full term in the state of Massachusetts.

In the end, as always, it is Christianity that gives humans a pathway to the hard acceptance of pain, suffering, and yes, death. Without it, humans recoil in visceral disgust and fear at anything that reminds them of the nothingness they think awaits them. To deny death doesn’t prevent it. If a baby is doomed to die, aborting it will not prevent its untimely death: it will only serve to turn its life into a gruesome act of violence.

Christianity introduced a novel concept most people had not encountered much in the brutality of early civilization: mercy. A little more mercy, and a lot less cheering for abortion, would be nice.
